Who we are

JobRail is scheduling, dispatch and payments software for local service businesses, operated by JobRail LLC, an Ohio limited liability company. Businesses use JobRail to take bookings, organize their crews and get paid. This policy explains what information JobRail handles and what happens to it.

When you book with a business through JobRail, that business is the one providing your service. JobRail runs the software they use to do it.

What we collect

When you book an appointment: your name, the address the work is at, the service and time you chose, and your phone number if you give one. Your phone number is optional.

Photos of completed work: a business's crew may photograph the finished job as proof of work. These are stored privately. A business can choose to show some of them on its own public booking page.

Payments: card payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card number never reaches JobRail. We only record whether a job has been paid.

Businesses using JobRail: business name, phone number, the owner's email address, crew member names, services and prices, opening hours, and, if the business switches it on, the times crew members clock in and out and their hourly pay.

Inquiries: if you ask about using JobRail for your business, the details you send us, so we can reply.

QR code scans: when someone scans a business's vehicle sticker, we record the time and whether it was a phone or a computer. Nothing else. No IP address, no cookie, nothing that identifies the person.

How we use it

To run the service you booked: putting the appointment on the business's schedule, sending it to the crew doing the work, reminding you beforehand, and taking payment afterwards. We don't use your information for anything else, and we don't build profiles or advertise to you.

Text messages

If you give a phone number when you book, you agree to receive text messages from JobRail about that booking: a reminder the day before, a message when the crew is on the way, and a link to pay once the work is done. Each message names the business you booked with. That is up to three messages per booking. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them. Reply HELP for help. You can also leave the phone number blank when you book, and you will not receive any texts.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, for any reason. We never sell your phone number or any other information.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of service providers to run JobRail. They process information only to provide their service to us, and not for their own purposes:

  • Supabase stores the database and photos.
  • Vercel hosts the website.
  • Stripe processes card payments.
  • Twilio delivers text messages.

The business you booked with can see your booking details, because they need them to do the work. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

QuickBooks

A business can connect its own QuickBooks Online company to JobRail. Only the business owner can do this, by signing in to Intuit. JobRail never sees their Intuit password.

Once connected, JobRail sends that business's paid sales and expenses to its QuickBooks company. A sale includes the customer's name, and their phone number and address if the business has them, because that is how QuickBooks records who paid. JobRail reads the company's name and its list of accounts so the owner can choose where things go. It doesn't read anything else from QuickBooks, and it never changes or deletes what's already there.

The keys Intuit issues for the connection are stored encrypted. The owner can disconnect at any time, from JobRail or from QuickBooks; the keys are then discarded. What was already sent stays in the business's QuickBooks company, which belongs to them.

Cookies

Business owners who sign in get a cookie that keeps them signed in. An owner connecting QuickBooks also gets one for up to ten minutes, to make sure the connection finishes in the browser that started it. Those are the only cookies JobRail sets. There is no advertising or analytics tracking on the site.

How long we keep it

Booking records are kept while the business uses JobRail, because they are the business's own records of work done and money received. When a business stops using JobRail, their records and photos can be deleted on request.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted, using the contact details below. For anything about a specific booking, you can also contact the business directly.

Children

JobRail is not intended for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we'll say so plainly here.
